On Location: Chanel celebrates Chance Eau Splendide with immersive London pop-up
Take a chance: The immersive activation underlines Chanel’s continued investment in experiential retail

French luxury house Chanel has unveiled an immersive pop-up experience in London to celebrate the launch of the Chance Eau Splendide fragrance, alongside the wider Chance collection.

The Moodie Davitt Report Brands Director Hannah Tan was on location for the media preview of the pop-up, located at The Dream Factory, 4 Chance Street. It officially opened its doors to the public on 25 April and will run until 5 May.

As reported, Chance Eau Splendide is the newest addition to the Chanel Chance fragrance line and marks the fifth major release in the collection.

Designed as an invitation for visitors to ‘Take a Chance’, the activation combines experiential storytelling with fragrance discovery, beauty services and exclusive events.

The venue’s exterior is decorated with a striking pop art-inspired mural, showcasing the fragrance’s signature purple colour and in keeping with Shoreditch’s vibrant street art culture. Notably, Chanel has also painted neighbouring walls and streets purple, directing traffic to the pop-up and driving awareness for the scent.

Inside, guests are welcomed to a playful space where they can experience a variety of interactive games, fragrance experiences and creative installations.

The pop-up’s centrepiece is a recreation of the whimsical fun house featured in the Chance Eau Splendide campaign film, directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and starring Belgian singer-songwriter Angèle. Highlights include a fragrance-profiling glass box experience as well as lottery ball and tabletop climbing maze games.

The Hall of Mirrors is a standout element and invites guests to immerse themselves in the film’s playful world, echoing its message of optimism and spontaneity.

A dedicated fragrance discovery bar allows visitors to explore the full Chance portfolio, including Chance, Chance Eau Fraîche, Chance Eau Tendre, Chance Eau Vive, and the new Chance Eau Splendide. Complimentary candy floss, inspired by the new scent’s olfactive notes, adds a whimsical touch to the experience.

In addition to the walk-in experience, Chanel is offering two bookable experiences: Chanel Beauty Service and Chance Street Soirée, both priced at £60.

Chance Beauty Service enables guests to enjoy personalised consultation with a Chanel makeup artist to create one of five Chance-inspired makeup looks, each capturing a different mood from the fragrance line.

The Chance Street Soirée on 1 May is a special evening event which will feature live DJ entertainment, cocktails and canapés. The booking fee for the soirée is redeemable against purchases made at the pop-up and includes an exclusive goodie bag.

Chanel has also curated a selection of makeup products inspired by each scent in the Chance collection. It also introduced a limited-edition Chance Le Vernis shade only available at the location.

Chance Eau Splendide

Belgian singer Angèle, a Chanel ambassador since 2020, leads the fragrance campaign with an original track titled A Little More

Created by in-house Perfumer Olivier Polge, Chance Eau Splendide is a fruity-floral composition that opens with a vibrant raspberry accord layered with crisp fruit, rose and violet.

At its heart is rose geranium – partly cultivated in Chanel’s fields in Grasse – adding a natural floral depth. The base features white musk and cedar, enriched by powdery iris.

The eau de parfum is housed in the signature round Chance flacon in a lilac hue.

The colour introduces a new dimension to the existing palette of orange, green, pink and peach and is intended to evoke mystery and rebellious energy. ✈
