New PS5 Console Bundle Gets Surprise Drop This Week

At the end of last month, it was reported a new Astro Bot PS5 console bundle would launch on March 13. It seems that is the case as Sony formally revealed the brand new bundle today.

New Astro Bot PS5 bundle launches this week

The PS5 console Astro Bot Bundle was revealed with a tweet from the official PlayStation X (formerly Twitter) account. The bundle shown includes the newer model of the PS5 console with a disc drive, a DualSense controller, and a copy of last year’s The Game Awards Game of the Year winner. Although not specified, these bundles typically come with a digital voucher rather than a physical disc. It is expected to release at select retailers globally this week.

In billbil-kun’s original report, there were two Astro Bot PS5 bundles. One included the standard console with a disc drive, and the other included the digital edition. Pricing was not yet given in the formal reveal, but the leak listed the standard console for $449.99 and the digital console for $399.99.

Astro Bot is a 3D platformer developed by Team Asobi. It is essentially a follow up to the PS5 pack-in game Astro’s Playroom. When it launched last year, it was met with critical acclaim. On the review aggregate site Metacritic, the game received an average score of 94 across 135 critic reviews. We gave the stellar game a 10 out of 10 in our review.
