Neil Young announces new LP with The Chrome Hearts, shares Elon Musk-blasting “Lets Roll Again”

Neil Young released his first song with his new-ish band The Chrome Hearts (guitarist Micah Nelson, bassist Corey McCormick, drummer Anthony LoGerfo, and organist Spooner Oldham), “big change,” back in January, and now the band’s first album has been announced. As Stereogum points out, Talkin To The Trees is due out on June 12 via Other Shoe/Reprise. It was recorded at Malibu’s Shangri La Studios, and all songs are written by Neil and co-produced by him and Lou Adler. See the tracklist below.

They’ve also shared the second single, “Lets Roll Again,” a re-write of “This Land is Your Land” that takes aim at Elon Musk with the lines “if you’re a fascist, then get a Tesla / if it’s electric, it doesn’t matter.” Neil made headlines when he debuted the song at Los Angeles’ Greek Theater last week during the Light up the Blues benefit; you can watch a clip of that performance, and hear the studio version below.

Neil will be on tour with The Chrome Hearts this summer, including Long Island’s Jones Beach on August 23 and Bethel, NY’s Bethel Center for the Arts on August 24.
