Actor Matthew Rhys has been set to lead the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Widow’s Bay“ from creator Katie Dippold (2016’s Ghostbusters, Haunted Mansion), Variety reports today.
Apple gave the series order for 10 episodes in September 2024.
The series will follow “a mysteriously cursed New England island and its superstitious citizens, led by a mayor (Rhys) who refuses to believe their warnings.”
Dippold will also serve as showrunner and executive producer. “Station Eleven” and “The Bear” producer Hiro Murai is attached to direct the pilot of the 10-episode series in addition to executive producing. Rhys will executive produce in addition to starring.
Matthew Rhys recently starred in HBO’s “Perry Mason“ and appeared in opening sequence of the comedy-horror movie Cocaine Bear. The actor also stars in the upcoming psychological thriller Hallow Road from Under the Shadow director Babak Anvari, set to make its premiere next month at SXSW.
