Lagardère Travel Retail returns as Platinum Partner for FAB 2025 Barcelona event

SPAIN. Lagardère Travel Retail is once again lending its support as Platinum Partner for the Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) + Hospitality Conference & Awards to be held in Barcelona on 25-26 June.

To be hosted by Spanish airports operator Aena, the only global airport food & beverage and hospitality event will bring together top executives from the burgeoning airport F&B sector, as well as hospitality service providers from around the world.

Owned and managed by The Moodie Davitt Report, the highly anticipated annual event will serve as a key platform for networking, exchanging insights and exploring the latest trends and innovations in airport F&B and hospitality.

An industry powerhouse with over 170 years of experience, Lagardère Travel Retail operates 4,970 stores across 51 countries, generating €7.6 billion (US$8.2 billion) in 2024. Its portfolio includes a diverse mix of local and global partner brands, in-house concepts and bespoke offerings, delivering a wide range of food options.

Lagardère Travel Retail CEO Dag Rasmussen said: “We are delighted to support the FAB event once again, given the crucial role that our dining division plays within Lagardère Travel Retail’s growth strategy. Our pioneering three-business-line model has given us significant expertise in dining, but the sector demands constant innovation and fresh thinking. The FAB event can play an important part in that process.

“Since COVID, dining has become an increasingly important driver of our overall performance. Today, it accounts for 23% of our total sales revenue.

“However, growth must always be paired with excellence. This is a core value at Lagardère Travel Retail, and the FAB Awards represent a key moment for us to highlight not only the dynamism of this segment but also its outstanding quality. Our support for FAB allows us to celebrate the excellence of our local and global teams and to track emerging trends within the segment.

“Key trends within the airport dining sector include consumers’ growing preference for local offerings, as well as a shift toward more sustainable choices. In response, we launched the FLOW programme globally in 2024 – an initiative aimed at tackling the urgent environmental, economic and ethical challenges associated with food waste in the travel retail industry. Our goal is not just for this segment to grow, but to do so in a sustainable way.

“We are looking forward to the Barcelona edition of the FAB event, and the opportunity to celebrate the amazing work that is being done in this sector of the travel retail industry.”
