Legendary filmmaker Michael Mann produced the original five-season 1980s TV series created by Anthony Yerkovich. It followed two detectives, Crockett and Tubbs, working undercover in Miami. It was distinctly 1980s, blending contemporary music and stylized visuals.
Mann then remade the property as a gritty cop thriller starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in the lead roles. That film was released to mixed reviews but has subsequently found a cult following with the film playing to a packed screening last year in Los Angeles by the Miami Nice podcast, which Mann himself attended.
It’s not clear if this is a reboot or possibly a follow-up to the 2006 film, the latter seems unlikely. Kosinski meanwhile is gearing up for the release this Summer of his Brad Pitt-led “F1” film.
Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently sparked a bidding war for a UFO conspiracy feature reminiscent of early “The X-Files” and dubbed “All the President’s Men with UFOS”.
