Kae Tempest announces new album ft Neil Tennant, Young Fathers & more: hear “Know Yourself”
‘Self Titled’ is Kae Tempest’s fifth album and will be out July 4.

Kae Tempest has announced his fifth album, Self Titled, which will be out July 4 via Island. It was co-produced by Kae and Fraser T Smith (Adele, Stormzy), who encouraged Tempest to write from the first person, as opposed to the more character-based songs which typified previous albums. The album features contributions from Pet Shop Boys’ Neil Tennant, Young Fathers, Connie Constance, and Tawiah.
The album includes the great single “Statue in the Square,” which was released in March, and the new single is “Know Yourself.” Kae says, “It samples a lyric I wrote years ago, where my younger self is talking to their younger self. A dialogue between selves across time, in real time. Or maybe I could put that simpler – When I was young I sought help from my older self. I came into my head, I told me know yourself.”
You can watch the video for that and “Statue in the Square” below.
