James Gunn Reveals New Look at Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Terrific in SUPERMAN and Says It's “One of My Favorite Characters”

In a recent social media post, the Superman writer and director, James Gunn, shared a fresh look at Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, revealing the character’s full suit and a bold “JL” logo on his chest. The post dropped as a tribute to the hero’s anniversary, with Gunn adding, “[Mr. Terrific] has long been one of my favorite characters.”Gunn’s clearly banking on Terrific having a big role in the DCU moving forward. Last December, he teased just how central the character will be in Superman, saying:“These characters all get their moment in the sun. They all have their moments. They’re not just cameos, these are the characters.”Then he clarified, “They’re supporting cast, but Mr. Terrific is the main character of those characters. He actually has a big part of the plot. And so that was fun.”It’s safe to assume that Gathegi’s character is part of a corporate-run Justice League International led by Maxwell Lord, though Gunn has yet to confirm if that name or structure will appear onscreen. Still, it will be interesting to see what Gunn has planned for the future of Mr. Terrific.
