Hayden Christensen Teases “Rich Stories” Still Left to Tell for Darth Vader After REVENGE OF THE SITH

During a panel at Star Wars Celebration over the weekend, Hayden Christensen confirmed that Anakin Skywalker will return in Ahsoka Season 2, saying: “There’s not much that I can share, but Anakin will be back for season 2.”This comes after his brief but emotional appearance as a Force ghost in the World Between Worlds during Season 1, a moment that was very exciting for longtime fans of “Skyguy” and “Snips.”But Christensen isn’t just thinking about the post-Return of the Jedi stuff. He’s also got his eye on the period right after Revenge of the Sith when Anakin Skywalker officially became Darth Vader, a broken man trapped in a mechanical prison of his own making. And he thinks there’s a lot left to mine there.Christensen told ComicBook: “There’s a lot that we could still explore with Vader. I think from where we left off, after Episode III, and everything that he has to reconcile after he’s trapped in this new version of himself, there’s just a lot of very rich stories that we could still tell.”That dark space between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope has been fertile ground for Star Wars storytelling, mostly in animation and comics. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series reunited Christensen with Ewan McGregor for a rematch, while Marvel’s Darth Vader comics, particularly the 2017 run written by Charles Soule, dove deep into Vader’s early days under Palpatine. That series showed Vader adapting to his new armor, constructing his red lightsaber, and even building his castle on Mustafar. Soule described it as “Vader: Year One,” and it’s exactly the kind of story Christensen is talking about. He added: “I love the character, and I’d love to get to continue with it, and so hopefully we’ll get to do more of it.”So, will we see Christensen suit up as Darth Vader again? Nothing’s official yet, but between Ahsoka and Lucasfilm’s renewed interest in exploring the Skywalker Saga’s darker corners, I’d like to think the odds are looking pretty good.
