Andrew Garfield Says He "Would Love" to Return to Play SPIDER-MAN but It Would Have to Be "Offbeat and Surprising"
The Amazing Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield was incredibly well-received when he returned to the role of the alternate universe Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. He was welcomed back alongside Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker, and ever since their appearance, fans have wondered when we may see them again. Since the MCU’s own web-crawler has been out of commission since that same film, it made sense that talk died down a bit. But since the announcement of the fourth movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we are back at wondering if this could mark their return, or if maybe we will have to wait for one of the Russo Brothers’ Avengers movies. As for whether Garfield is hoping to return, the actor said at a recent fan event, “I would love to play the character again in some capacity, but I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.” I think that whether it be in Secret Wars in 2027, or Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we will likely see Garfield and Maguire back in action. Fans are just too hungry for it for them to ignore it. The script for Brand New Day comes from No Way Home scribes Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton at the helm. The movie has also been given an official release date of July 31, 2026.via: CBM
