Jesse Garcia (“The Mother,” “Ambulance”) and Will Yun Lee (“The Good Doctor,” “Altered Carbon”) are the latest to join the cast of Christopher Nolan‘s “The Odyssey” at Universal Pictures.
As per usual, their roles are under wraps. This will mark the first time either actor has worked with Nolan before with shooting to begin this Spring.
They join an ever growing ensemble that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, John Leguizamo, Jon Bernthal, Charlize Theron, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin and Samantha Morton.
The feature is an adaptation of Homer’s epic 8th century BCE Greek poem that recounts the ten-year journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he travels home after the Trojan War.
He and his crew encounter many perils, ranging from a cyclops to the multi-headed monster Scylla, whirlpool-generating Charybdis, the lethal Sirens, the Cyclops Polyphemus, the sorceress Circe, the nymph Calypso and the vengeful god of the sea Poseidon. Meanwhile, Odysseus’s wife and grown son must contend with aggressive suitors that have designs on the throne.
The project will shoot throughout the first half of this year in Sicily, the UK and Morocco using brand-new IMAX film technology ahead of a planned July 17th 2026 release.
