E-40 Drops Braggadocious New Music Video for ‘Beating They Ass’: Watch

E-40 is back with his first solo single since 2023, and Billboard has the exclusive premiere of his new music video.

On Friday (May 9), E-40 dropped off his new track “Beating They Ass” alongside a new music video. The minimalistic, black and white visual includes a memorable cameo from Vital Versatility CEO Didier Morais and follows E-40 as he engages in a series of hyped-up activities.

From experimenting with nunchucks to pimping out a Chevy Camaro with some buoyant hydraulics, the menacing vibe of the new EJ Galloway-produced track showcases E-40’s versatility despite his veteran status. In the song itself, he spits venomous bars about “beating they ass” while sipping on a bottle of his Earl Stevens wine.

“I wanted to make a statement with this new release,” E-40 tells Billboard. “Even at my age, I can still evolve and adjust my delivery like I’m a brand-new artist. I’m never gonna get comfortable and I’m always going to push myself to be great, so we can keep beating they ass in the rap game. And just know, this song is just the first of a few surprises that I’m cooking up for 2025.”

“Beating They Ass” serves as E-40’s first new release since his Rule of Thumb: Rule 1 project back in November of 2023. That album included collaborations with NBA YoungBoy, Gucci Mane, Too $hort, Larry June, LaRussell, Trae Tha Truth and many more.

The Bay Area legend most recently hopped on Cousin Fik’s single “Thangin,” and made a memorable appearance at the 2025 NBA All-Star Game alongside Saweetie, Too $hort and En Vogue.
