Dish Out the Pain in New Weapons-Focused ‘Painkiller’ Trailer [Watch]

After the big reveal last month of 3D Realms’ resurrection of Painkiller, developer Anshar Studios has dropped a new trailer showcasing the lovely weapons at your disposal to mow down the demonic hordes.

In Painkiller, you’ll unleash hell with seven weapons at your disposal. Each weapon offers primary and alternative fire modes, as well as elemental effects such as fire, ice, electro, and kinetic. All of your weapons are upgradable with different abilities to provide unique bonus effects. A mix of old and new, here’s the rundown:

• Electrodriver – Barrage enemies with rapid-firing shurikens that bounce off hard surfaces.
• Stakegun – Launches high-damage stakes that can impale from long range.
• SMG – Unleashes loads of ammo in short, rapid-fire bursts.
• Handcannon – Decimate enemies from long range with deadly precision.
• Shotgun – Fires out destructive pellets at short range that can damage and stagger multiple foes.
• Rocket Launcher – Discharges a rocket projectile with a devastating blast radius that can stagger even heavy enemies.
• Painkiller – A versatile weapon with a brutal melee attack that hooks onto enemies and shreds them to pieces while refilling your ammo.

Along with your guns, you also have your trusty Tarot cards available to upgrade your abilities and rank up to expand your arsenal.

Much like in the original game, Painkiller sees you trapped in Purgatory, sentenced for your transgressions against Heaven. But the Voice of the Creator gives you a chance to redeem yourself. As one of the Champions, you are to stop the fallen angel Azazel who is about to unleash his demonic armies onto Earth. You will face hordes of enemies, demons with unique powers and three monstrous children of Azazel – the Nephilim.

Painkiller will be coming in fall 2025 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam.
