Death Cab for Cutie announce ‘Plans’ 20th anniversary shows (with American Analog Set in NYC)

Fresh off celebrating the joint 20th anniversaries of Death Cab For Cutie‘s Transatlanticism and The Postal Service’s Give Up, Ben Gibbard & co. will now celebrate the 20th anniversary of another monumental Death Cab album, Plans. The 2005 LP was their major label debut, it found them settling down into a softer, folkier indie mood, it birthed the massive singles “I Will Follow You into the Dark” and “Soul Meets Body,” and it helped turn Death Cab into a cultural institution and a definitive band of the mid-aughts indie boom.

The band are currently set to perform the album in full in just three cities: a hometown-area show in Seattle (Climate Pledge Arena on 8/2), Chicago (Chicago Theatre on 8/5) and NYC (Brooklyn Paramount on 8/8 and 8/10). Making the Brooklyn shows extra special, they’ll be opened by longtime Ben Gibbard collaborators The American Analog Set, marking that band’s first NYC shows in 20 years. The Seattle and Chicago shows are with Nation of Language.

Tickets for the Plans shows go on sale Friday, February 14 at 10 AM local time with presales starting Thursday, February 13 at 10 AM local. You can sign up for presale access here.

Right in between their two Brooklyn Paramount shows, Death Cab open for My Chemical Romance at NJ’s Metlife Stadium on August 9 with Thursday also on the bill.

Ben Gibbard will also play San Francisco’s Noise Pop Festival on February 25.
