David Longstreth scored new A24 film ‘The Legend of Ochi’; Dirty Projectors added to Bernie Sanders LA rally

Dirty Projectors frontman David Longstreth has composed the score for upcoming A24 fantasy-adventure film The Legend of Ochi which stars Willem Dafoe, Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson, and Helena Zengel, and is out April 25. In addition to his orchestral score, there’s also a new Dirty Projectors song, “Through The Long And Lonely Night.” You can listen to three pieces from his score — “Prelude,” “The Pond,” and “The River” — below.

As for the film, which was directed by Isaiah Saxon, here’s the A24 synopsis: “In a remote village on the island of Carpathia, a shy farm girl named Yuri is raised to fear an elusive animal species known as ochi. But when Yuri discovers a wounded baby ochi has been left behind, she escapes on a quest to bring him home.” It looks very cute and you can watch the trailer below.

In other news, Dirty Projectors have been added to this Saturday’s LA stop on Bernie Sanders’ “Fighting Oligarchy” tour that also has Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Neil Young, Maggie Rodgers, Joan Baez, Jeff Rosenstock, Indigo de Souza, and more. Some have dubbed it “Bernie-chella” thanks to 2025 Coachella also happening this weekend, and the rally’s poster which is a clear riff on the festival’s poster which you can check out below.
