British singer, multiple Grammy winner and ‘brat summer’ phrase coiner Charli XCX is being eyed to the key role of Jadis The White Witch in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming “The Chronicles of Narnia” film.
Deadline says Charli, coming off five Brit Award wins this weekend, is among top choices for the role and talks have been underway for a little while, but nothing is set at the moment.
Her film career is quickly growing with Cathy Yan’s “The Gallerist,” Romain Gavras’ “Sacrifice” and Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” all on the way.
The new ‘Narnia’ was first announced back in 2018 based on the C.S. Lewis novels with “Barbie” director Gerwig boarding in 2020. The project is expected to begin filming in July.
The film is famously targeting an exclusive two-week IMAX global run for Thanksgiving 2026 in advance of a Christmas 2026 release on Netflix.
No other casting for the project has yet been announced. Tilda Swinton played the Jadis role in the previous “Narnia” films.
