Analyst: Switch 2 Price Could Remain Stable

The U.S. price of Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to remain at $450, assuming President Donald Trump’s global tariff plans remain at 10% (excluding China), according to Bernstein analyst Robin Zhu at Bloomberg.

Most of Nintendo‘s imports into the U.S. come from Vietnam and Cambodia, with Trump initially deciding to apply a 46% tariff on Vietnam and a 49% tariff on Cambodia. That’s why last week Nintendo delayed Switch 2 pre-orders in the US (and later Canada) to assess market conditions.

Yesterday, Trump opted to hit pause on his tariff hikes (sans China) for 90 days (ie. early-mid July) with everyone but China seeing their tariff amounts dropped to 10%, including these two.

Additionally, Vietnam has agreed to start talks for a trade agreement with the United States to potentially remove as many non-tariff barriers as possible according to Reuters.

Zhu tells the publication that if the tariffs stay at 10%, then “Nintendo probably keeps pricing at $450 and just takes the hit on margin”. If those tariffs go back up to the original 46% tariffs, they expect the price to be raised “by $50 to $100.”

It’s also indicated Hosiden Corp, one of the three main Switch 2 assemblers, has been shipping almost all of its stock to the US since January with speculation being that Nintendo is stockpiling millions of Switch 2 units in the U.S. so there will be plenty in supply when the console releases on June 5th.

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) warned last week the tariffs will “have a real and detrimental impact” on the games industry – especially those that go beyond 10%.
