Kevin Bacon knows his way around a horror movie — the actor famously made his big-screen debut in Friday the 13th — but what goes down when the scares happen in real life? Bacon, now 66, is revealing the creepy truth — like when he was filming the 1998 thriller Wild Things and a dead body floated by.
In a new interview with Variety, the Footloose star recalled his time filming the late ’90s cult classic, which famously also starred Neve Campbell and Denise Richards.

“We were out in the swamp one night — a lot of mosquitoes, wow — and we were shooting some scene, I don’t remember what it was, by kind of a river,” Bacon said, explaining: “They had floated a raft out there so that they could put out a light.”
That’s when it happened.
“All of a sudden I hear across the walkie-talkie: ‘Hey, uh, I think I just saw a floater.’ And it was a body that was floating by,” the Apollo 13 actor divulged. “It was kind of indicative of the vibe of the movie.”
In the erotic thriller, Bacon portrays detective Ray Duquette, who is attempting to get to the bottom of a case involving teenagers Suzie (Campbell) and Kelly (Richards), who accuse their guidance counselor (Matt Dillon) of rape.
As for the “dead body” story, director John McNaughton originally revealed the true tale years prior.
“We called the police, and they actually grabbed the body and kept it from getting into our shot,” he told Entertainment Weekly at the time.
