Why is YouTube TV About to Lose All Paramount Stations?

As a YouTube TV subscriber, it's been a tough couple of months. First, they raised the price to $82.99, which is basically just what I paid for cable years ago. They also charge an extra $10 for 4K. And don't get me started on the interface. YouTube TV made $11.6 billion last year in revenue from around 8 million subscribers. Almost a billion more than the year before. It's growing because people want to easily access the channels they want. But that could change. YouTube TV is currently in a standoff with Paramount channels CBS, MTV, and Comedy Central over a carriage deal. “YouTube TV is attempting to pressure Paramount to agree to one-sided terms, and these non-market demands may lead to an avoidable loss of Paramount’s networks on YouTube TV,” a Paramount rep said to the Hollywood Reporter. A YouTube TV rep fired back, “We’ve been working hard to reach a fair agreement with Paramount that allows us to keep their channels, including CBS and CBS Sports, on YouTube TV without passing on additional costs to our subscribers. Unfortunately, despite our good faith negotiations, we haven’t been successful yet.”If they cannot agree on a deal, the channels owned by Paramount will leave the service. That will go into effect on February 13th, 2025. These negotiations are ongoing, but the blackout will take effect if they cannot reach an agreement. Let me know what you think in the comments.
