Daniel Mullins Games’ Inscryption is going to have some company very soon in the horror card game department, thanks to KREIDPIX and their atmospheric war-horror card game, Deckline. Coming May 7 to Steam, Deckline mixes a simple game of cards with a raw depiction of the war zone and the gritty essence of 1990s Eastern Europe.
The story of Deckline sees you out of ammo and encircled. Your command has abandoned you. With all resources depleted and no hope of rescue, you and your squad gather for one last game of Durak, also known as “fool”. With death closing in, you shuffle the deck, clinging to the memories of laughter and camaraderie. Now, it’s all that remains.
Given the randomness of Durak, Deckline sports unlimited replayability, thanks to the dynamic, randomized gameplay mechanics that constantly reshape playstyle, as well as the game’s global leaderboard and built-in score system. Along with a Story Mode that features several diverse endings, there’s also an infinite competitive mode.
Above all, the game seeks to capture the despair and doom of war, based on real-life stories.
