(Update: Some cancellations) $75 Uber credit with CLEAR enrollment

Update 2/15/25: Doctor of Credit is reporting that some members who signed up for this CLEAR promotion are having their memberships cancelled without notice. According to what they’ve written, it sounds like CLEAR is cancelling on people who signed up with a credit card that reimburses the cost of membership, but CLEAR is only reimbursing $124 rather than the $199 that people paid — apparently they plan to keep $75 and fulfill the Uber gift card? Chuck reports the same thing happening to him in the past and he received both the refund and the credit from the credit card he used to purchase the membership, which would certainly make it sting a lot less — though if I only found out that they cancelled my membership when I arrived at an airport looking to use the service, I’d probably not be thrilled. Be sure to check your account if you signed up under this promo. I don’t think they’re cancelling on everyone, but YMMV.

CLEAR and Uber have again sent out emails with an offer to earn $75 in Uber Credit by signing up for CLEAR using the promo code VDAY25. For those with 100% CLEAR reimbursement via the American Express Platinum, Amex Green, Hilton Aspire or Business Platinum cards, it amounts to getting $75 in free Uber credit to use Clear for a year.

Quick Thoughts

My wife and I have CLEAR and enjoy it quite a bit. We probably only use it on 25-30% of our flights, but that 25-30% saves us a boatload of time. It’s also very useful to be able to bypass lines at local sporting events (something that’s not available everywhere). Since Amex offers a $199 CLEAR credit with each Platinum card, it’s a no-brainer.

CLEAR has offered program-linked incentives in the past, which makes the deal even “clearer.” This Uber deal is the most recent. The last time this offer ran, people were able to receive the Uber credit almost immediately and without going to the airport to finish sign-up so, even if you have no interest in CLEAR, it’s probably possible to take advantage of the Uber voucher.

The “full” price for CLEAR is $199. The American Express Platinum, Amex Green, Hilton Aspire or Business Platinum card each offer a statement credit for CLEAR of up to $199. . There have also been reports of folks being able to trigger this multiple times by simply using different e-mail addresses. YMMV.
