Titanio material by Gessi

Dezeen Showroom: Italian tapware brand Gessi harnessed the strength and lightness of titanium in its latest material, Titanio, which it uses to create distinctive bathroom hardware.

Titanium is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and durability, but with Titanio, Gessi wanted to treat it as "no longer just a technical solution, but a language of beauty and meaning".

The material's properties allow it to be used to push the boundaries of traditional tapware design. Here, Gessi sought to do that with moulded forms that come together to create intriguing, intricate sculptural objects.

"Every shape, every reflection, every surface speaks of craftsmanship and innovation," said Gessi. "The result is a creation that is not only durable, but that surprises and elevates everyday rituals."

The taps are intended to stand the test of time, as titanium is naturally resistant to corrosion and wear.
