This Week on Social Media: Travel retail embraces the Easter holiday spirit with egg-citing activities

This Week on Social Media is our new regular column where we continue to spotlight how airports, retailers and brands are connecting with travellers through creative and engaging campaigns on social media.

The travel retail industry embraced Easter (20 April) with themed activations, springtime décor and seasonal exclusives designed for passengers of all ages.

Airports and retailers marked the occasion with Easter egg hunts, chocolate tastings, limited-edition confectionery and family-friendly giveaways. Across terminals, colourful displays and cheerful staff helped bring the festive spirit to life, becoming a joyful highlight of many travellers’ long weekend journeys.

London Heathrow Airport

Travellers were welcomed by Easter mascots and invited to take part in a Golden Egg Hunt, with winners receiving chocolate treats. Jo Malone offered complimentary engraving and calligraphy, allowing shoppers to personalise fragrance purchases.

Cyprus Duty Free marked the occasion with engaging experiences at Larnaca International Airport. The retailer unveiled a colourful Easter bunnies tea party at the duty-free store entrance, inviting passengers to start their holiday at the airport.

Face painting with Alice proved popular among younger travellers, while the Easter egg hunt with Peter Rabbit attracted participation across all ages.

Cyprus Airports Duty Free noted on LinkedIn: “It has been a busy week for passenger traffic and the team has done an incredible job in elevating our passengers’ experience and delivering joy on your way this Easter.”

Dublin Airport celebrated Easter with vibrant floral arch backdrops in terminals 1 and 2, giving passengers a seasonal setting for holiday snaps. The airport’s new hare mascot, Dubby – introduced earlier this year – also made appearances at the arrivals doors, adding an Irish welcome for travellers.
