Across social media, leading brands and retailers showcased their Valentine’s Day initiatives through eye-catching visuals, passenger engagement and storytelling.

This Week on Social Media is our new regular column where we continue to spotlight how airports, retailers and brands are connecting with travellers through creative and engaging campaigns on social media.
The travel retail industry marked last Friday’s Valentine’s Day (14 February) with a series of engaging activations, exclusive product offerings and immersive experiences designed to captivate travellers.
From airport staff surprising travellers with sweet treats and Valentine’s-themed quizzes to retailers creating romantic in-store displays, the sector leveraged the occasion to enhance the passenger experience in the spirit of Saint Valentine.
Paradies Lagardère
Paradies Lagardère curated the ultimate guide for a romantic date before take-off. From cosy local coffee shops to golf simulators and in-terminal spas, travellers were encouraged to make the most of airport experiences with their loved ones.
Spain Duty Free (Avolta)
Spain Duty Free (Avolta) invited passengers to celebrate Valentine’s Day in style, offering exclusive promotions and themed activations across its stores. This included a blooming flower cart promotion from Club Avolta which highlighted exclusive prizes for members.
A striking rose petal digital animation featured at the entrance of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport El Mercado store, immersing travellers in the spirit of the season.
Dallas Fort Worth Airport
Dallas Fort Worth Airport showcased sweet treats from its confectionery brands, inviting travellers to visit its stores to find the perfect Valentine’s gift.
Dublin Airport
The social media team at Dublin Airport celebrated Valentine’s Day by treating airport passengers to chocolates and vouchers. One special pair, Kim and Mark, got the VIP treatment with Platinum Services at the airport. The couple, celebrating their 30th anniversary with a holiday to Lanzarote, were treated to a Platinum Suite, Champagne, a pre-flight meal and chauffeur services straight to the plane.
Cork Duty Free
Dublin Cork Duty Free ramped up the romance during Valentine’s Day with live harp performances and complimentary Butler’s chocolates. The activations aimed to spread joy and love and create memorable experiences for travellers during Valentine’s Day.

Malaysia Airports captured the beauty of simple gestures by surprising travellers with roses, reminding them that a smile and a ‘small act of kindness’ can brighten someone’s journey.

Check-in counters at Kotoka International Airport were decorated with heart-shaped balloons, bringing a touch of Valentine’s Day cheer to travellers. As an added treat, passengers were offered made-in-Ghana confections such as GoldenTree chocolates.

Airports are always ringing with hellos and goodbyes – this Valentine’s Day, travellers at Singapore Changi Airport were asked to share their thoughts about love.

The SJC Happy Tails therapy animals brought smiles and comfort to passengers on Valentine’s Day. They paw-sed near the Terminal B checkpoint, where San José Mineta International Airport Director of Aviation Mukesh Patel joined in the heartwarming activity.
