Spielberg & The Daniels’ Next Films Delayed

Steven Spielberg’s big new event film at Universal Pictures has been delayed. The project, rumored to involve UFOs, is now hitting cinemas a month later – moving from May 15th 2026 to June 12th 2026.

Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell star in the film which David Koepp penned and which begins filming at the end of the month.

According to Deadline, the delay has has a knock on effect with the next film from “Everything Everywhere All at Once” directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert originally slated for June 12th now being pulled from the release date calendar.

The trade says development of that film “is coming along, it just needs more time” with a new date to be announced in the near future.

The move sees Spielberg’s new film now opening the week after “Masters of the Universe,” the week before “Toy Story 5” and on the same day as the new “Scary Movie” project.

The movie gets it out of the way of “Avengers: Doomsday” and “The Mandalorian and Grogu” which arrive on May 1st and May 22nd respectively.
