The Smashing Pumpkins‘ beloved third album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, turns 30 in October, and to celebrate they’re bringing it to Chicago’s Lyric Opera. “A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness” happens on November 21-30, and it’s described as “a new commission inspired by one of the greatest alternative albums of all time. You’ll hear Billy Corgan and special guest artists along with the epic sound of the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra and Chorus in a completely new, sonic and visual experience.”

“Opera and rock both tell stories of heightened emotions, and I am excited for both fans of my music and traditional opera fans to hear some truly inspired work; for the balance here is to honor both traditions in a magisterial way.” Corgan says.

You can watch a trailer below, where Corgan speaks a little more about what to expect from the show. Tickets are on sale now as part of packages and subscriptions, and will go on sale individually on Friday, April 11 at 10 AM CT.

Corgan has also recently been teasing shows with “The Machines of God.”
