GERMANY. Ritter Sport has partnered with Gebr. Heinemann to unveil an immersive campaign at Frankfurt Airport, marking the global travel retail debut of the German chocolate house’s ‘Start Your Love Affair with the Square’ advertising campaign.

The eye-catching activation at the entrance of Heinemann’s Terminal 1 store is designed to engage travellers through a multi-sensory experience, bringing to life the colourful world of Ritter Sport and its brand ambassador, Don Choco. It launched on 3 April and will run until 2 July.

The ‘Start Your Love Affair with the Square’ campaign debuted in the UK in 2024. Following its soft launch in travel retail at Frankfurt, the campaign will see roll-outs in Hong Kong, Copenhagen, Munich and Singapore airports later in the year.

The experiential space, developed in collaboration with Hamburg-based design agency Zweimaster, invites travellers on a four-step discovery journey with Don Choco.

Upon arrival, visitors encounter digital screens introducing the campaign and Don Choco’s playful invitation to ‘Start Your Love Affair with the Square’. This is followed by a tasting area, where guests are encouraged to explore Ritter Sport’s newest flavour offerings in a guided sampling experience.

Further into the space is a dedicated selfie zone which allows travellers to take a digital photo with Don Choco, set against a vibrant tropical backdrop that depicts El Cacao, Ritter Sport’s cocoa farm in Nicaragua.

Travellers are invited on a discovery journey through digital touchpoints, flavour tastings, photo opportunities with Don Choco and a gift-with-purchase incentive featuring an exclusive plush toy.

The journey concludes at the souvenir section, where the full TR Editions range is displayed in a new-look display tower. Shoppers who purchase three items are rewarded with an exclusive gift-with-purchase — a Don Choco cuddly toy.

The activation features key product highlights for 2025, including the TR Editions Pink Mini Flavour Mix, available in both tower and pouch formats, alongside a new TR Editions assortment pouch.

As with previous Ritter Sport campaigns, the colourful design, playful elements and interactive touchpoints are expected to attract significant footfall and drive strong engagement among international travellers, the company said.

The tropical design elements are inspired by El Cacao, Ritter Sport’s cocoa farm in Nicaragua, and underscore the brand’s commitment to responsible sourcing
