Qatar Airways Cancels Gold & Platinum 5% Award Discount Effective Immediately

Qatar Airways has made uncommunicated changes to Gold and Platinum member elite benefits.

Privilege Club Gold and Platinum members have been eligible for a 5% award discount on Qatar Airways awards booked online or through the app. This discount was discontinued with no advance notice on March 8, 2025.

6Applicable for award tickets on Qatar Airways redeemed online at qatarairways.com/PrivilegeClub by Gold and Platinum members. 5% discount is applicable to all passengers included in an award booking. Discount is applicable only for non-discounted regular and Flexi-Award tickets (not upgrades) on Qatar Airways. Not applicable in conjunction with any other redemption discount, such as promotions or Easy Deals.

The award discount is still visible on some program FAQs that have not been erased yet.

Conclusion

When will these programs learn that it is better, in the long run, to be open and communicative about changes rather than pushing them out in the middle of the night and hoping that no one notices?

It doesn’t build trust among the program members if Privilege Club doesn’t inform them about these “enhancements.”
