Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers Don’t Work With Switch 2 Games

Nintendo announced both on its Japanese and US sites that Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers will not work with titles for the Switch 2 successor. These are an initiative for Nintendo Switch Online members that allows them to get a discount on games by purchasing these special tickets.  On the English support site, the description for the product now reads, “Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers cannot be redeemed for games exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 system.” On the Japanese storefront, there’s a note that brings up how the new titles aren’t eligible for the promotion. Typically, you would pay 9,980円 or $99.98 for a pair of vouchers that could be put toward two digital copies in the eShop.  Here are some of the most notable current and upcoming titles that are a part of the Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers promotion: Another Code: Recollection Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club Fitness Boxing 3: Your Personal Trainer The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD Mario & Luigi: Brothership Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Super Mario Bros Wonder Super Mario Party Jamboree Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition This isn’t the only Nintendo program that is coming to an end. The company also announced the My Nintendo Gold Points initiative is shuttering. If you purchased digital or physical games, you’d get points that could be put towards games or DLC. Each Gold Point was worth a penny, so you could use that to get a discount or outright buy items. You can’t earn them starting on March 25, 2025, and the last points you earn are good for a year.  The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct will air on April 2, 2025, with the system launching later this year. There's no exact release date for the console or its upcoming titles yet. The post Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers Don’t Work With Switch 2 Games  appeared first on Siliconera.
