For some, Valentine’s Day means a three-course pre-fixe dinner at a fancy restaurant. For others it means going to see dark synthwave bands at a cavernous space in Queens. For the latter, Belarusian group Molchat Doma brought their North American tour to Knockdown Center on 2/14. The tour is supporting last year’s Belaya Polosa and they played nearly all of that album’s songs, plus other favorites from the rest of their discography. They saved their biggest hit, the TikTok-fueled “Sudno,” for the last song of the encore, natch.

Opening the show were LA’s Sextile who went full-on ’90s-electronica for their most recent album, Push, and came equipped with few large flags. One had their logo while another read “ABORTION RIGHTS NOW” in all-caps.
