Matthew Lillard in Talks to Join Mike Flanagan’s CARRIE Series at Amazon

Matthew Lillard is keeping the horror streak alive. Fresh off roles in Daredevil: Born Again and Amazon MGM’s action thriller Cross, and Five Nights at Freddy’s he is now in talks to join the upcoming Carrie series from Mike Flanagan.There’s no word yet on who Lillard might be playing, but his involvement reunites him with Flanagan, who directed him in another Stephen King adaptation with The Life of Chuck. That film, which also stars Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill, is a highlight anticipated film that earned the People’s Choice Award at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and is set to hit theaters on June 6th.Flanagan’s Carrie will reimagine Stephen King’s 1974 debut novel with an eight-episode series that dives into the story of Carrie White, a shy teenage girl with telekinetic powers, dealing with relentless bullying at school and the psychological torment of her religiously fanatical mother. Summer H. Howell is set to star as Carrie, with Siena Agudong playing her infamous classmate and antagonist, Sue Snell.Flanaganm known for Midnight Mass, The Fall of the House of Usher, and The Haunting of Hill House, will write, executive produce, and direct select episodes. His longtime producing partner Trevor Macy is also on board, and Amazon MGM Studios is backing the project.This Carrie marks the latest screen adaptation following four films, the most well-known being Brian De Palma’s 1976 version starring Sissy Spacek. Flanagan’s take promises a fresh approach, with his signature mix of psychological horror and emotional storytelling.Lillard’s schedule isn’t slowing down either.
