Lovecraftian Point & Click Adventure Game ‘The Dark Rites of Arkham’ Announced [Teaser]

With Stygian: Outer Gods filling your weekend with Lovecraft, what about the future? An English Haunting developer Postmodern Adventures has you covered with the announcement of a new point-and-click adventure title, The Dark Rites of Arkham. Naturally inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the game is currently in development for a 2026 release on Steam and itch.io.

The story for The Dark Rites of Arkham concerns Detective Jack Foster, who after experiencing a traumatic incident, rejoins the police department to take over the investigation of what appears to be mere political blackmail. However, he’s soon faced with the discovery of a gruesome ritual murder that took place in a sealed room, from which no one could have gotten in or out without being seen. Along with his new partner, cult expert Harvey Whitman, Foster dives deep into the shadows of the city of Arkham.

Things get even darker when the duo find out the murder is related to three witches that escaped the Salem trials in 1693, and a conspiracy that could put an end to the world as we know it.

Along with the usual adventure game tropes of inventory management and puzzle-solving, you’ll also meet up with well-known characters in the Lovecraft universe, such as Herbert West, Keziah Mason, Doctor Carl Hill, and Henry Armitage. You can also choose to test your knowledge of H.P. Lovecraft and horror cinema of the 30s on Maxwell Fontaine’s radio show.
