John Oliver Scoffs at GOP Claims of Paid Protestors: Were You Really ‘Expecting Zero Haters?’ | Video
The HBO host mocks House Speaker Mike Johnson for trying to create a "pretty iconic 'Housewives' intro" with his theories The post John Oliver Scoffs at GOP Claims of Paid Protestors: Were You Really ‘Expecting Zero Haters?’ | Video appeared first on TheWrap.

As more and more Republicans continue to face protests at local town halls — and are now canceling said townhalls to avoid the confrontations — John Oliver simply scoffed on Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight.”
To kick off the show, Oliver pointed out just how poorly many voters have received the actions of Trump and the GOP lately, highlighting various protests on the local level. One in particular came from Kansas, as Republican Sen. Roger Marshall complained that he was facing “one of the rudest audiences I’ve ever had.”
“Grow up!” Oliver said as the clip ended. “Your job is to listen to people complain, and act on their concerns. If you’re not doing that, people don’t owe you politeness! You know who gets to complain about a rude audience? Patti LuPone when someone’s texting, end of list. So shut the f–k up!”
The comedian then played a clip of House Speaker Mike Johnson baselessly suggesting that the people raising concerns at these events are actually paid protestors sent by the Democrats.
“Oh good, so we’re basically back to this s–t again,” the HBO host scoffed. “Look, ‘The only reason anyone wouldn’t like me is if they were being paid to hate me’ would admittedly be a pretty iconic ‘Housewives’ intro. But it’s an utterly transparent political move. Did you seriously get into this line of work expecting zero haters?”
“Last Week Tonight” with John Oliver is now streaming on Max.
