Rockstar Games has finally announced GTA 6 release date, and it’s not exactly great news for fans. The PS5 (and most definitely also PS6) title has been pushed out of 2025, with a new release date of May 26, 2026.
Rockstar Games ‘very sorry’ for GTA 6 release date delay
In a note on X, Rockstar Games apologized to fans for the delay, and cited the usual “quality” reasons for its decision — pretty much a standard industry statement for all delays.
“We are very sorry that this is later than you expected,” Rockstar wrote. “With every game that we have released, the goal has always been to to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
This also likely means that we won’t be seeing any new gameplay trailers anytime soon.
But what’s particularly worrying fans at this point is the game’s expected price. With the way things are going right now, what seemed like an outlandish theory just a couple of months ago feels like a certainty at this point. Yes, we’re talking about the $80 price tag that analysts floated a while ago.
Brace yourselves.
