Filippo Mambretti’s Stilo75 Pen Holder Encourages Correspondence
A sculptural wooden object disguised as a pen holder, the Stilo75 from Filippo Mambretti blends beauty and functionality with ease.

When’s the last time you sat down and wrote a letter? Putting actual pen to paper could be a novelty for some of us, so far removed from the writing of a paper letter in a screen-based, buttonless world. In an era of increased modernization and isolation, the heart in a handwritten note cannot be understated. To promote these age-old practices, Filippo Mambretti presents the Stilo75 Pen Holder, a take on a desk organizer that has specific spots for two pens, some cards, and other small desk items. Mambretti designed the object as a nod to the 75th anniversary of the Pozzi & Verga carpentry workshop.
Organic, sculptural, with heavily rounded elements that instill a sense of calm, the Stilo75 is crafted from a singular piece of wood, with a contrasting wood inlay for the pen holes. A catchall for small desk objects, this pen holder would look just as stylish on a walnut live edge piece as a polished marble countertop.
The inlay allows the piece to match with multiple finishes and colors of wood, the more red tones of the outer wood offering contrast to the darker purples of the walnut. The interior edge is tilted inwards at one degree, a slight but beautiful detail that ensures your utensils won’t roll out. Every degree and vertex has been carefully considered, balancing elegance with geometry.
Filippo Mambretti was born in Como, Italy, and grew up in close contact with his grandparents, who informed his worldview from a young age. Mambretti is a multidisciplinary designer, earning degrees in interior and furniture design from Milan Polytechnic. Working with product and architectural companies from across the world has taught him the value of a functional, beautiful object, which he carries into everything he designs. The heart of his Italian heritage is strong here, bringing craftsmanship and tradition into the spotlight. If you’ve made it this far, take this as your sign to sit down and write a loved one a letter – you won’t regret it.
