DJI Drone Ban: Will DJI's New Drones Be Available in the US?

One of the top stories of 2025 so far has been the nearly endless battle between the Chinese company DJI and the United States government. There have been ups and downs, and it’s honestly hard to say where things currently stand or where they might be here in the next few days, weeks, or months. As of today, though, DJI is able to operate in the United States and is still actively selling, updating, and making plans to release new drones throughout the year. However, there have been de facto bans signed into law, a Countering CCP Drones Act that passed in the House (although it failed in the Senate), and stipulations added to new National Defense acts that further threaten DJI’s future in the United States. It’s a lot to keep up with, to say the least. If you’re curious about whether or not DJI’s new drones will be available in the US this year, here’s what we currently know.Potential DJI Drone BanAs of the writing of this article, there is no active ban on DJI drones in the United States. There have been a few unsubstantiated reports of DJI drones having some issues clearing customs (or at least being held up), but nothing to point to any more policies or laws prohibiting DJI drones from being bought, sold, or updated. DJI, to its credit, has been very open about its fight to stay active in the United States, which is obviously one of its biggest and most lucrative markets. The last major update from DJI came in a blog post where the Chinese drone maker blasted a bill that would ban sales of its products in the US as “baseless allegations and xenophobic fear” as it reiterated its commitment to user data security. If there are any future updates, DJI will most likely let us know, and we’ll be sure to share any news with the rest of you regarding the future of such an industry-leading aerial cinematography company. The Next Generation of DJI DronesStill, many current and perhaps future DJI users are quite concerned about what will happen to this next generation of DJI drones. DJI has a pretty promising roadmap in the works, with several new drones already announced this year, including the enterprise-level DJI Matrice 4 and the tiny yet powerful DJI Flip.As far as we can tell, all future DJI drones that could potentially be released this year, including a rumored DJI Mavic 4 Pro, are all still on schedule and very likely to be available in the United States. Any new acts of the US government to deter new DJI drones could happen at any time but will most likely be battled quite vigorously by DJI, which could, at the very least, delay any bans and perhaps push them out several months, if not years. We’ll keep you updated on this topic as it develops, though.
