“Death Stranding 2” Trailer & June Release

Video gaming auteur Hideo Kojima appeared at SXSW 2025 in Austin, Texas this evening, where he revealed a new trailer for “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” which will arrive exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26th.

Clocking in at ten minutes, the video blends cinematics, gameplay clips and a focus on the new character of Neil played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli (“The Old Guard”). Said character is already drawing many comparisons to Solid Snake from Kojima’s “Metal Gear Solid” franchise.

In the new game, players embark on a mission of human connection beyond the UCA. Sam – with companions by his side – sets out on a new journey to save humanity from extinction. Join them as they traverse a world beset by otherworldly enemies, obstacles and a haunting question: should we have connected?

The clip also includes Magellan Man, what IGN dubs “a tar-like creature fused with the DHV Magellan that looks a bit like Metal Gear Rex”. The giant mech faces off against tar monsters in the game.

A standard edition will be released at $69.99 while a collector’s edition costing $229.99 will include early access and a 15-inch Magellan Man statue, among other things. Pre-orders begin on March 17.

Kojima also announced The Strands of Harmony World Tour, a Death Stranding global concert tour set for 19 cities worldwide. The concerts will feature an orchestra and singers performing selections from Ludvig Forssell’s critically acclaimed scores alongside music from other artists featured in the games.

Synchronised HD video projections will accompany the performances. The first one kicks off on November 8th at the Sydney Opera House.
