'Death Stranding 2: On The Beach'.

The release date for Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has finally been confirmed alongside an epic 10-minute trailer – and fans are very excited.

The original Death Stranding was released back in 2019 while a Director’s Cut of the game came in 2022. A sequel was announced the same year.

After previously revealing that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach would be released at some point in 2025, Hideo Kojima has now confirmed the long-awaited sequel will be released June 26 for PlayStation 5 players.

Pre-orders go live next week (March 17) with a number of different versions of the game available including a digital deluxe edition ($79.99) and a collector’s edition ($229.99), both of which will give you two days of early access to Death Stranding 2.

The release date was announced as part of a special Death Stranding 2 panel at SXSW, with Kojima also releasing a new 10-minute trailer.

“I edited the trailer myself with the worldview, era, theme, story, characters, gameplay, music, the connection to the first game, and its evolution as a sequel in mind. I have incorporated various hints and puzzle pieces throughout. Please enjoy the time leading up to the release of the game by watching it many times and reflect and discuss it,” wrote Kojima.

“Losing my mind over this Death Stranding trailer. Kaiju battles, more action sequences, high speed vehicle chase scenes, fighting giant horrific monsters all in between walking through the most beautiful environments you’ve ever seen,” wrote one fan. “The more I see about Death Standing 2, the less I understand it. And I love that,” said another.  Genuinely speechless… that was one of the best trailers i’ve ever seen,” added a third.

One of the biggest talking points is new character Neil (played by Luca Marinelli) and his similarities to the Kojima-created Solid Snake, from the Metal Gear Solid series. In the trailer, Neil can be seen putting on a bandana before leading a team of soldiers. In 2020, Kojima said Marinelli was the “spitting image” of Solid Snake. Fans are also pointing out the similarities between the huge tar-like creature Magellan Man and the Metal Gear Rex.

“Can’t believe that fucking conspiracy theory youtube channel calling Death Stranding a secret MGS was right,” said one fan. “I cried while watching the trailer and I screamed at Snake when he showed up,” wrote another.

The trailer is soundtracked by Woodkid’s latest soaring epic ‘To The Wilder’ and later this year,  Death Stranding concert tour ‘The Strands Of Harmony’ will hit the road.

In other news, Monster Hunter Wilds fans can’t get enough of the game’s food porn with clips of delicious in-game meals going viral on social media.
