BRAZIL. Leading global travel experience player Avolta has been awarded a three-year retail and food & beverage contract by Aena Brasil for São Paulo-Congonhas Airport.

The agreement involves a 606sq m duty-free walkthrough store, an expanded 131sq m duty-paid space and Avolta’s first F&B venue in Brazil. All will be located in a newly-constructed area.

Avolta General Manager Brazil Gustavo Fagundes commented: “The opening of our first F&B store in Brazil is a momentous occasion for our team here, marking a key moment in Avolta’s growth in the LATAM region. We are creating unique and memorable moments for our customers, taking the airport shopping experience to a new level.

“We would like to thank Aena for their continued trust and partnership, as well as our colleagues across Avolta that have been involved in developing the travel retail experience at São Paulo-Congonhas Airport.”

Aena Brasil Chief Commercial Officer Juan José Sánchez said: “The introduction of these new operations at Congonhas Airport embodies Aena’s vision for the future passenger terminal: a cutting-edge space that seamlessly integrates innovative experiences and world-class services.

“We are launching an ambitious expansion and modernisation plan in 11 Brazilian airports, including Congonhas, where we will double the size of the terminal, allowing for greater capacity and a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for passengers.

“This is part of our strategy to raise the standard of our commercial offer across all 17 of our airports, providing a world-class experience that meets the expectations of our passengers, particularly in São Paulo, where we are committed to delivering an incredible experience.”

With an investment of R$2.4 billion (US$416.7 million), Congonhas Airport will receive a new passenger terminal more than double the current size, new boarding bridges and various improvements for operational efficiency.

The airport will include 20,000sq m of space dedicated to commercial activities. ✈
