“Avengers: Doomsday” Filming Begins Monday

Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige has confirmed that filming on “Avengers: Doomsday” is officially slated to get underway tomorrow (April 28th). The shoot kicks off almost exactly one year out from the movie’s planned theatrical release on May 1st 2026.

Though first announced in 2022, the upcoming fifth “Avengers” film really didn’t become its current form until mid-2024 when plans for “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty” were scrapped and “Avengers: Doomsday” was announced with Robert Downey Jr. in the role of Doctor Doom.

The team has frantically been writing and gearing up for production ahead of the shoot, which will mark the first of two “Avengers” films coming in the next few years.

Speaking about filming finally getting underway (via CBR), Feige says everyone’s excited:

“Avengers movies are always about incredible actors. who’ve never met before on screen, meeting for the first time and interacting in ways that they’ve never interacted before. That’s my favorite part of Avengers movies. There’s already been a little taste of that with some people sitting here (in the Thunderbolts* cast), and we officially start (filming Avengers: Doomsday) on Monday. So that’s what’s next for us, and it’s very exciting. Day one is Monday.”

One of the film’s cast members, Wyatt Russell, spoke with ComicBook.com and joked about the film’s secrecy, saying: “Media training for Doomsday is they just hold a knife to your neck and said: ‘You say anything, and it’s over.'”

Speaking of Marvel, a report at DanielRPK indicates that filming on “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is officially set to get underway in August, though a specific date within that month hasn’t been revealed.
