Comedian Andrew Schulz has called Kendrick Lamar a “hypocrite” for working with South Park creators.

Tension between the two began back in July, when Schulz was criticised for joking about white men in relationships with Black women, and alluding that Black women are abusive on the Flagrant podcast.

Many people spoke out against the comedian’s comments – including Lamar, who seemingly sent an indirect jab at him on ‘Wacced Out Murals’ from his latest album, ‘GNX’. On the song, Lamar rapped: “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman, that’s law” – the lyrics seemingly referring to Schulz’s infamous comments.

Two weeks later, Schulz responded, calling Lamar “the Taylor Swift of hip-hop” because “no matter what [Lamar] does, he’s still the victim”.

Now, Schulz has revealed that he received confirmation from Lamar’s team that the lyric was about him, while saying that the rapper’s choice to work with South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parkeron on a new movie is “hypocritical”, given the show’s prior jokes about Black women.

“Did I find it hypocritical that he’s like doing a movie with the South Park guys and they’ve got Lizzo jokes and all this other shit? Like yes, he’s being hypocritical. He’s just, he was doing something for clicks. And then I did get confirmation it was about me. So before I sent anything, I got confirmation.”

Schulz also also suggested that the subsequent lyric “The n****s that coon, the n****s that bein’ groomed, slide on both of them” was an invitation by Lamar for his fans to “kill” Schulz’s friends Charlamagne Tha God and AlexxMedia.

“Basically his team reached out to somebody to be like, ‘Yo, we weren’t talking about you guys with that line about the killing shit, but it was about Schulz with this thing’,” He said. “So I’m like, okay, you open your mouth, you say this thing about telling your fans to kill my friends. You get whatever’s coming to you and you fucking enjoy it.”

In early 2022, it was revealed that Lamar would be producing a live-action comedy film in collaboration with Stone and Parker. The following year, it was confirmed that besides producing, Parker would also direct the live-action movie.

The film was initially slated for a July 2025 release, but, in April, it was revealed that it would be pushed to 2026.

While a reason for the delay has not been revealed, it is worth noting that Lamar will be out on tour from early July until August with SZA across Europe and the UK, and would likely be unable to attend to the film and promoting it during that time. Prior to the UK/European run of dates, he will also be touring the US.

Virtually no information about the film has been shared, including its title nor cast. The only other piece of information that has been made public is that Dave Free of Lamar’s label PgLang will co-produce – the plot revolves around the past and present coming to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.

Lamar and SZA’s European and UK run of the joint ‘Grand National Tour’ will kick off with an opening night at the RheinEnergieSTADION in Cologne on July 2. From there, they’ll perform shows in Frankfurt, Glasgow, Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Barcelona, Rome and more before wrapping up in Stockholm on August 9 – visit here to buy tickets to the tour.

In a five-star review of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘GNX’, Kyann-Sian Williams wrote for NME: “‘GNX’ starts off with such an ominous tone that doesn’t necessarily leave. But Lamar channels what could be interpreted as hate and negativity into a teachable moment, leading you to draw upon the purest emotion known to man: love. In a year that started with so much venom, Kendrick Lamar shares the antidote on ‘GNX’.”
