Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles based Tourism Consultant and now Presidential Candidate for the islands September 2025 elections and Air Seychelles were recognised at the PATWA Award Ceremony held during the ITB Tourism Trade Fair in Berlin last week.
Alain St.Ange was the only recipient honoured with the Gold Award for “Lifetime Achievement in Tourism”, whilst Air Seychelles, represented in Berlin by Charles Johnson, the airline’s Chief Commercial Officer, pulled the Indian Ocean Region Airline of the Year Award and its CEO, Sandy Benoiton received the PATWA Gold Award for Excellence in Aviation Leadership in the Indian Ocean Region.
Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles former Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine said to the press after the Award Giving Ceremony that he was proud to have been recognised for his work in tourism. “Tourism is not an activity, but remains an industry. I worked in tourism with passion and alway with my heart. Today I am so happy that my years of service in the industry is again recognised” St.Ange said.
Alain St.Ange also told the press that he was happy to see Air Seychelles recognised as the Airline of the Year for the Indian Ocean Region. It is a great achievement and I salute the Management and Staff of the airline for their work and devotion
The PATWA International Travel Award winners have been felicitated at an annual ceremony, during ITB (Internationale Tourismus Börse) Berlin, since 1999. Awardees are recognised for having achieved the highest standards of excellence in their field. The PATWA International Travel Awards are among the most coveted awards in the travel industry.
The awards recognise governments, organisations, brands, ministers, and individuals who have excelled in the promotion of tourism. This includes airlines, hotels, travel agencies, tour operators, destinations, government bodies, tourism ministries, and other service provider(s) related directly or indirectly with the trade.
The selection process is transparent and stringent.
A jury comprising the PATWA International Awards Council, our worldwide media members, and Board collects, shortlists, and finalises nominations. The nominees are evaluated on various standards with an extensive internal evaluation/ audit within pre-set parameters for each category, as necessary.
The shortlisted nominations are finalised at the PATWA International Awards Council meeting each year. Award confirmations are then communicated to the winners.
