A24’s ‘Heretic’ Starring Hugh Grant Will Stream on Max in March

Dust off your Monopoly board, because Heretic will stream exclusively on Max beginning Friday, March 7, before debuting on HBO linear on March 8 at 8pm ET.

Written and directed by A Quiet Place scribes Scott Beck & Bryan Woods, A24’s acclaimed horror-thriller stars Hugh Grant, Sophie Thatcher, and Chloe East.

In the film, two missionaries are forced to prove their faith when they knock on the wrong door and are greeted by a diabolical Mr. Reed, becoming ensnared in his deadly game of cat-and-mouse.

Meagan Navarro wrote in wrote in her review, “Heretic is a movie that’s ultimately carried on the back of its villain, and Grant’s daffy, amused portrayal of Mr. Reed might be enough to make you a convert.” She also notes, “the smart casting, powerhouse performances, and an infectious sense of humor ensure that it remains engaging.”

Grant’s villainous turn earned him Best Actor nominations at the Golden Globes, the Critics’ Choice Awards, and the BAFTA Awards, while Beck and Woods received an Independent Spirit Awards nom for Best Screenplay.
