Hozier has surprised Lucy Dacus at her recent New York concert – check out footage of the moment below.
On Wednesday (April 23), Dacus brought her ‘Forever Is A Feeling’ tour to New York’s Radio City Music Hall for the first of two shows at the venue. Late into the set, she revealed that she was going to bring out a friend to perform a song together, only to be surprised by Hozier.
The moment – captured below – suggests Dacus wasn’t aware of Hozier’s attendance, and that the surprise was planned by him and her team. She gasped after he walked on stage and took a moment to recover, before they embraced and performed ‘Bullseye’ from her latest solo album, ‘Forever Is A Feeling’.
She also reportedly said that they had not rehearsed the song together, further supporting claims that she wasn’t ready for Hozier’s surprise.
Following her set – which also saw her perform Boygenius’ ‘True Blue’ during the show’s encore segment – Lucy Dacus took to X/Twitter asking fans if they had footage of the surprise and collab: “Who has a video of Hozier surprising me on stage last night, I blacked out and would like to see it.”

This isn’t the first time Hozier and Dacus have performed together. Back in June last year, he brought Dacus out at one of his shows to perform ‘I, Carrion (Icarian)’, also in New York City. In September the previous year, Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker invited Hozier on stage at a Boygenius show in Boston to perform ‘Salt in the Wound’.
In other news, Dacus last month confirmed that she is indeed in a romantic relationship with her Boygenius bandmate Julien Baker, and would like to keep the relationship private for the most part but wrote a song based on Baker on ‘Forever Is A Feeling’: “It’s been interesting, because I want to protect what is precious in my life, but also to be honest, and make art that’s true… These songs are about different people. But, you know, ‘Most Wanted Man in West Tennessee’—what are you gonna do?”
In a four-star review of ‘Forever Is A Feeling’, El Hunt wrote for NME: “Though it exudes plenty of joy along the way, ‘Forever Is A Feeling’ doesn’t shy away from the more daunting aspects of being totally obsessed with somebody; “This is bliss, this is hell,” Dacus sings on the title track. “Forever is a feeling, and I know it well.” Though longing and mortality have long been recurring themes in Dacus’ music, the stakes feel even higher – and even more gripping – when there’s so much to lose.”
