Jon Favreau Coy On Whether There Will Be The Mandalorian Season 4

Jon Favreau is coy on whether there will be a The Mandalorian Season 4 during his appearance at Celebration this past weekend. Favreau was there to show a trailer for and promote The Mandalorian and Grogu. However, Collider did ask Favreau if we could still get a reworked The Mandalorian Season 4 in the future? 

It seems pretty obvious that the story that was The Mandalorian Season 4 is what has been adapted into movie format for Mando and Grogu. So what comes next?

“Right now, I’m focusing on the feature because we still have another year of the story. You discover so much as you edit a film and put it together with visual effects. Right now we’re really locked in on the big screen story that’s coming.”

Very non-committal from Favreau. Then again, perhaps he doesn’t know? Perhaps it will depend how much of a success The Mandalorian and Grogu is as a film?

Favreau did take time to talk about how they used this opportunity to make the piece feel more cinematic.

“We really leaned into it. As we did tests, we looked at what looked good in IMAX. A lot of stuff in space looked great, and a lot of sets we built taller to really embrace the opportunity.”

“A lot of people know these characters who haven’t seen the show. So it’s not just that there are people who saw the show and people who don’t know the characters – there’s a big range. We want to reward people who’ve been there since the beginning, but also invite new audiences in.”

I guess that’s the dream for Disney. Carry the audience who liked the sbow into theatres and hopefully pick up some others who might just go see a Star Wars movie. We shall see if the experiment was a success next year. 

The Mandalorian and Grogu is currently in post-production and arrives in theatres on May 22, 2026. Let’s hope it’s a lot better than The Mandalorian Season 3. What do you think as Jon Favreau is coy about whether we’ll get a The Mandalorian Season 4 in the future? Thoughts below.
