Multiple Actors Turn Down “Star Wars: Starfighter”?

As part of Star Wars Celebration in Japan last week, the wrapping came off “Deadpool and Wolverine” director Shawn Levy’s mysterious “Star Wars” movie.

Titled “Star Wars: Starfighter,” Ryan Gosling is set to star in the project which will be a standalone movie set after the events of ‘Rise of Skywalker’ and is targeting a May 2027 theatrical release.

Now, a new report over at DanielRPK (via CBM) has gone into some of the casting process that has been taking place so far and, from the sounds of it, the film is having a little difficulty landing people.

The report claims Jesse Plemons, Jodie Comer and Mikey Madison were all approached for villain roles but passed, Sarah Snook was offered the role of a mother and passed, while Greta Lee was considered for a cantina owner but she also declined.

It also says the film’s premiere involves a 15-year-old boy on a mission with his uncle (Gosling) as they are pursued by a duo of villains – one male, one female. The movie is said to have a “significantly smaller budget” than previous Disney “Star Wars” films.

Levy and Jonathan Tropper are writing and will produce alongside Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy.
