WASHINGTON – US Travel applauds President Trump on the establishment of a White House task force for the 2026 World Cup. This critical action, announced today, will ensure a seamless and secure experience for the 8 million visitors we could welcome if we build the right processes for both the 2025 Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup. The task force, chaired by the president, will coordinate with federal agencies to prepare for these major events, positioning the U.S. to welcome the world.
“The creation of this task force was a top priority for US Travel and will ensure the U.S. is fully prepared to host the world’s largest sporting event. We are grateful for the administration’s leadership in bringing together the necessary resources to support the massive influx of travelers, and we are confident this will lay the foundation for a truly transformative mega-decade of events,” said US Travel President and CEO Geoff Freeman. “We look forward to the positive impact this will have on both the travel industry and the nation as a whole.”
The task force will be chaired by President Trump while Vice President JD Vance will serve as vice chair and an executive director, to be named later, will run day-to-day operations.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the tournament would create around 200,000 jobs and have an economic impact of around $40 billion. An estimated eight million foreign travelers are expected to come to the US for the tournament, which kicks off in June 2026.
