PAUL F TOMPKINS ‘VARIETOPIA’ / ‘THRILLING ADVENTURE HOUR’

Improviser, Bojack Horseman co-star and Comedy Bang! Bang! (and other podcasts) regular Paul F Tompkins has live dates regularly in Los Angeles, and he’ll be taking a couple of his shows on the road this year. First: Varietopia will be on tour this spring, with stops in St Paul, Iowa City, Chicago, Cleveland, NYC (Irving Plaza on May 2), Boston, Philly, DC, Atlanta, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver and more.

Paull will also be touring ‘Thrilling Adventure Hour,’ his comic ode to old-timey radio serials, this fall, stopping at Brooklyn’s Bell House on October 25 for 7 PM and 9:30 PM shows. The cast includes Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), Marc Evan Jackson (The Good Place), Busy Philipps (Girls 5Eva), Joshua Malina (The West Wing), Mark Gagliardi (Blood and Treasure), Craig Cackowski (Drunk History), Autumn Reeser (The OC), Annie Savage (Dicktown), Hal Lublin (The Venture Brothers), and Janet Varney (Legend of Korra).

VAMPIRE WEEKEND

Vampire Weekend have announced a new run of shows supporting their fantastic 2024 album Only God Was Above Us. Their 2025 dates begin with headlining festival sets at Just Like Heaven and Boston Calling and continue through May into June.

FATHER JOHN MISTY / LUCINDA WILLIAMS / HAMILTON LEITHAUSER

Father John Misty is on tour now with Destroyer and announced summer dates with Lucinda Williams and Hamilton Leithauser.

CAP’N JAZZ

Tickets for Cap’n Jazz‘s U.S. reunion shows went on sale today, and they’re selling fast. The Brooklyn show happening on July 12 at Warsaw is already sold out, so the band added a second night.

SILKWORM

Montana indie rock greats Silkworm, whose original run was 1987 – 2005, are reuniting for their first official shows in 20 years. These will be the first official shows since the band broke up following the death of Michael Dahlquist in a car crash (his car was rammed from behind). Cohen and Midyett say that the shows will feature original Silkworm drummer Joel RL Phelps, who left the band in 1994, as well as Matt Kadane (also of Bedhead and The New Year) who played keyboards on the final two Silkworm albums, Italian Platinum and It’ll Be Cool.

HURRAY FOR THE RIFF RAFF

Hurray for the Riff Raff already had 2025 shows lined up supporting Bright Eyes and Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman, and they’ve added a new headlining run to their schedule, which includes shows with Merce Lemon opening.

EMILE MOSSERI

Singer, songwriter, and composer Emile Mosseri will release tryin to be born next week, and she’s announced a few dates in support. North American dates are with Paul Dally and include NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on March 13.

LAEL NEALE

Lael Neale will release a new album on May 2 and has NYC and LA shows lined up before it comes out.

WENDY EISENBERG

Math rock guitarist Wendy Eisenberg and their band Editrix both just signed to Joyful Noise, and Wendy’s first solo single for the label is the twitchy, melodic, casually-genre-defying “I Don’t Miss You.” Wendy also has a residency at The Stone in NYC coming up this month, and other dates (including several other NYC shows) after that. Full schedule here.

MARY IN THE JUNKYARD

UK indie rock band Mary in the Junkyard will be back in the US next month for shows in LA (Permanent Records Roadhouse on March 19) and NYC (Union Pool on March 28).

PORTRAITS OF THE PAST

Screamo originators Portraits of Past just reissued their self-titled 1996 discography compilation and have announced they’re also back for live shows.

CORPUS OFFAL / MEPHITIC CORPSE

Corpus Offal, who will release their debut album in March, will soon be on tour with fellow gore-bringers Mephitic Corpse (who recently released their debut LP Sickness Attracts Sickness).
