The Black Dahlia Murder’s Brandon Ellis leaves band; vocalist Brian Eschbach postpones tour for health reasons
Melodic death metal veterans The Black Dahlia Murder underwent a lineup shakeup and they also postponed a tour, with guitarist-turned-vocalist Brian Eschbach citing health reasons.

Melodic death metal veterans The Black Dahlia Murder made the tough decision to move forward after vocalist Trevor Strnad took his own life in 2022, and they did it with co-founding guitarist Brian Eschbach taking over lead vocals and former guitarist Ryan Knight rejoining the band. The new lineup gave us 2024’s excellent Servitude and have done lots of touring, but Brian just announced that the band are postponing their Latin American dates as he focus on his health, and guitarist Brandon Ellis (who joined in 2016) just announced his exit from the band. He writes:
I have recently parted ways with The Black Dahlia Murder.
I’m grateful for my 9 years spent with this iconic band, and to have had the rare honor of making music with the legendary Trevor Strnad. I’m proud of my contributions to the band’s legacy and of all that we’ve accomplished together.
Unfortunately, the time has come that I must close this chapter and begin the next.
I’d like to thank the fans for the mountains of support they’ve afforded us all over the years, and I wish the band the best in all future endeavors.
Brian’s tour postponement announcement reads:
Brian here. I’d like to apologize to our Latin American fans for the postponement of our February shows. We have rescheduled for December and joining us is the mighty Gatecreeper. As everyone knows it’s been an intense 4 years in the world and within The Black Dahlia Murder. All of this has forced me to take a hard look in the mirror and reevalute my approach to life and focus on my health. I want to thank my friends, family, and bandmates for their continuous love and support. I and the rest of the band look forward to seeing you all at Sonic Temple and Welcome To Rockville this spring.
All ticket holders who want a refund can get it at the point of purchasing, (if it was online you’ll have to request your refund via ticket seller) from February 21st and onwards, the limit date will be April 21st.
That’s all we know for now, but stay tuned for any further updates on The Black Dahlia Murder.
