Swing Kids’ reunion chronicled in new documentary ++ new shows announced
Surviving members of the influential screamo vets recently reunited for bassist John Brady’s 50th anniversary show, and now they’ve announced two more dates.

Influential screamo vets Swing Kids (one of the many bands fronted by Justin Pearson of The Locust, Retox, Deaf Club, etc) abruptly broke up in 1997 after guitarist Eric Allen (also of Unbroken) took his own life, but surviving members recently regrouped (including late-period member Jimmy LaValle, now best known as The Album Leaf) with an updated lineup to play bassist John Brady‘s 50th anniversary show at The Casbah on March 30, and Two Legs Bad made a 30+ minute documentary during the lead-up to that show, featuring footage of rehearsals, soundcheck, and other behind-the-scenes moments, plus new interviews with band members. It was directed by Rodrigo Espinosa, and you can watch it in full below.
Swing Kids have also just announced two more shows, happening next month in Southern California. They’ll play Berkeley’s All Rise Fest Bay Area on May 3, which is with Jeromes Dream and Big Boy, and Los Angeles’ Lodge Room on May 5. Tickets to both dates are on sale now.
